Summer Essentials Wish List 2016

Through the winter I practically live in baggy jumpers, so I find summer a great chance to switch up my style and pull out a summer dress or two. Having a taste of warmer weather these past couple of weeks has really got me looking forward to summer, so today I've put together a wish list of summer essentials..

1. Lazy Oaf Swimsuit - This swimsuit popped up on my Instagram feed and it was love at first sight, anything that gets me closer to my childhood dream of being Ariel from The Little Mermaid and I'm in.

2. Ray Ban Mirrored Aviators - Aviators are my favourite style of glasses, I find that they really suit my face shape and I love how classy they look! I'd love to make an investment into a pair of mirrored RayBan aviators.

3. Urban Outfitters Polaroids and Album - Being off for the summer means making memories, so I definitely need to stock up on my polaroids to take some cute snaps and a few mini photo albums to keep them safe.

4. Topshop White Frilly Shorts - I don't really own many white pieces of clothing as I don't trust my clumsy nature with them, but I definitely want to start introducing white into my wardrobe! I love these frilly shorts from Topshop and feel like they'll still be comfy while looking super cute!

5. Urban Outfitters Lace-back Bralette - Having big boobs and a broad back when backless styles have come into fashion is a struggle, so I think that this bra by Urban Outfitters would help me with those halter neck dresses and will add a bit of edge to them.

6. Coconut Lane Pineapple Necklace - I don't know why but I tend to get drawn to 'fruity' objects in the summer, I just feel like they scream summer! Which is why I'm definitely going to be purchasing this cute pineapple necklace from Coconut Lane. Get 20% off with code 'justlucyslife20'

7. Bondi Sands Fake Tan - Being a typical British gal I've been blessed (cursed) with 'english rose' skin that just will not tan, so fake tan is a must for me in the summer! I've heard a lot of good things about Bondi Sands tan so I'm hoping to try it out.

8. Michael Kors Tan Sandals - When we went to New York in 2014 my Mum got 2 pairs of MK sandals, and ever since I've been sneakily borrowing them in the warmer weather. They are so comfy for sandals and amazing quality that will last.

9. Hollister Mist - Hollister's Lunada Bay is my summer scent. It's just so fresh and lovely and my current bottle is running low so I'm definitely stocking up soon!

10. Urban Outfitters Dress - If you follow me on snapchat (@justlucyslife) then you'll of seen me snap about this dress. While waiting to meet up with a friend I popped into Urban Outfitters and as soon as I saw this dress I fell in love. I love the pattern and darker but still summery colour palette.

11. River Island Jumper - As I mentioned earlier, I practically live in baggy jumpers through the Winter, which is why when I saw this jumper in the 'New In' section of River Island I was buzzing. A baggy jumper that I can wear in the Summer and I love the off shoulder style, I think this would look really nice with a halter neck lace bralette so the straps would show.

So those are the things that I'm wishing for this Summer, what about you? Let me know in the comments!

Revolution Blush Palette | Review

Being a typical student, I'm always on the look out for budget make up that won't break the bank but still does the job I want, which is why when I saw this blush palette from Revolution which includes 8 blushes for just £6, I just had to have it.

I am a fan of Revolution. I think it's a great drugstore brand with very reasonably priced products and I have quite a few products from them.

I chose to go for the 'Sugar and Spice' palette as the colours appealed to me more than the rest. I think there's a good range from pink-tones to brown-tones, this is great for changing up your look especially if you're on the go. I think this would be the perfect blush palette to take away on holiday as there is so much choice.

Now, I have to admit it, this was one of those products that I bought, used once, then didn't pick up again for a few months. I'm not sure why, I think I was just so stuck on using my Benefit blush boxes that I didn't give anything else a chance, but I'm learning to experiment more with my make up now.

When using this product the quality is actually pretty decent, especially considering each blush is worth under £1. A word of warning though, some blushes are more pigmented than others so be careful on application, we don't want any Bridget Jones moments! However, from a small amount of product I find that I get a nice colour for my cheeks, and they are reasonably easy to build up, still being careful not to apply too much product though. You'll see what I mean about the pigmentation in these swatches.

As you can see, the pinks are more vibrant, so those are the ones I'd suggest not to use too much product with. Having said that, I think that all the colours are lovely, especially the coral one in the bottom row. I've used the coral shade a lot recently and I find that it helps to define my cheekbones, which I love!

The two shades on the end are baked blushes, but I think that the top right shade would make a great highlighter.

Overall, if you're looking for a budget blush palette then this one is for you! Revolution also have a wider range of colours through various blush palettes so you can go down to your local drugstore shop who sells them and see which one suits you.

Have you tried this palette? Have you tried anything else from Revolution? If so, what did you think? Let me know in the comments!

Why I'm So Glad I Started This Blog..

I was never very good at English in school, which is why when I started this blog I didn't think anything would come of it, but how wrong was I! I started blogging as it looked like a fun hobby and after reading some other blogs I thought 'hey, I want to do that!', but I never imagined that it would become a pretty big part of my life. It's also a miracle that I've kept up with this blog for so long as I'm normally the type of person to jump from hobby to hobby, but I've found a huge love for blogging and here's just a few reasons why...

1. Confidence - Growing up I definitely lacked confidence, especially when it came to my appearance and, even though I've become a much more confident person as I've grown up, blogging has definitely played it's part in boosting my confidence just that little bit more. I feel like still to this day this blog is helping me find myself and what kind of person I want to be.

2. Community - The blogging community is something that really surprised me. Everyone is so supportive, friendly and helpful. As opposed to Youtube which seems like a whirl of competitiveness, the blogging community is more about building each other up and admiring other's work and achievements, it gives out so much positive energy.

3. Friends - I've met so many lovely people through blogging, and I've actually now formed a few real friendships from online friendships. Meeting the North East blogger babes that I've had the pleasure of meeting so far has allowed me to meet some lovely ladies who I now consider to be friends of mine, and not just someone who I talk to over Twitter. This brings me on to my next point...

4. Events - I am lucky enough that I sometimes get invited to exclusive events through my blog such as openings and launches. This is still a crazy concept to me and always makes me feel like I'm playing VIP for the day! I love the fact that I now have the opportunity to work with different companies and brands, and events are also a great reason to get dressed up! I'm also lucky enough to sometimes walk away with goodie bags from these events too which I am always so grateful for.

5. Love - Blogging is something that I simply just love to do. Growing up I could never find the right hobby that fit me, and now I've finally found the perfect match! I've always been a creative person so this blog is a fab creative outlet for me and it's also something that I love putting time and effort into. Another reason why I love blogging is that it helps me to be more positive. This blog is something that is growing everyday and I'm so proud of my little space on the internet when I see the effort that I put into it is starting to pay off.

So those are my reasons on why I'm so glad that I took the plunge and started this blog, what about you? I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

The Opening of Songbird Bakery

On Friday I was invited down to a new addition on Bedford street in Middlesbrough, Songbird Bakery, to see the shop and try out their cakes before their grand opening the next day.

After following them on Instagram for a while now, and my mouth watering or my eyes popping out in amazement every time a post of theirs came up on my feed, I was more than excited to head down to the shop and try the cakes out for myself.

Even though I've been ill with Tonsillitis, I'm so glad I went. I almost forgot there was anything wrong with me as the conversation started to flow and before we knew it we were all talking like we'd been friends for ages, let alone just met.

After a glass of non-alcoholic bubbly and a chat with the owners, it was time for cake.

There was so many tempting options which included, mint chocolate, chocolate, lemon meringue, jaffa cake and strawberry milkshake, but I opted for caramel as I'm a sucker for anything to do with caramel.

After digging in to a few bites of the delicious cupcake, in the middle underneath the super yummy caramel flavoured icing, I discovered there was salted caramel sauce inside, YUM!

The owners, Shelley and Claire, explained that their aim for Songbird Bakery was for it to be a welcoming and relaxing environment for people of all ages to sit down and enjoy some delicious cake in. They also said that they have been inspired by the cute, independent bakery's that you would find as hidden treasures in the big cities such as London. I think they've definitely achieved this feel with the rustic interior with a brick feature wall and hints of their trademark colour of teal blue throughout the shop.

We were also lucky enough to walk away with a goodie bag with 2 cupcakes, a vanilla one and then a flavour of our choice to which I chose strawberry milkshake, mostly because it looked cute! Shelley and Claire also kindly let me take an extra one home for my brother, so I chose the chocolate one for him.

The shop is now open and had such a successful opening day that they ran out of cakes! So if you can, I'd definitely recommend that you get yourself down to Songbird Bakery. I think it's a fab addition to Bedford street.

You can also find them on Twitter @SongbirdBakery1 and Instagram @songbird_bakery.

Thanks again to Beth for organising such a lovely event, Shelley and Claire for being such friendly hosts and it was lovely to meet/catch up with blogger babes Emily, Caroline, Sami and Kirsty.
