Kat Von D | London Calling

The moment I've been waiting on for months is finally here, Kat Von D's make up range has officially arrived in the UK! After lusting over Kat's range countless times on social media, of course I jumped at the chance to get my hands on it the day it became available at Debenhams.

It was hard to decide which item/s I wanted to try out first. Of course, I wanted to splash out and buy whatever tickled my fancy (which was a lot), but since I'm returning to student life next week (help!) I opted for the limited edition set of mini's named London Calling.

This set features 3 of Kat's absolute favourites from her range; her Tattoo Liner in Trooper, an Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Double Dare and a Studded Kiss Lipstick in Lolita.

I was super excited as the Tattoo Liner is the product that I've had my eyes on for too long, and I've also heard great reviews about her liquid lipsticks, so I thought that getting a set of mini's (for a bargain price of £19) was the best way to try multiple products out while still staying within my budget.

The liquid lipstick was the first thing I tried as I couldn't wait to see if it lived up to it's name. First of all, I love the colour. It's quite a dark pink nude with a touch of brown in it which I love, as being so pale brown tones sometimes wash me out. On application it was soft, creamy, super pigmented and dried within about a minute. It actually quite reminded me of the Nyx soft matte lip creams in texture, but it definitely has a longer staying power! I ate a meal and the lip colour was still pretty much intact apart from the middle of my lip, but a quick touch up sorted that out straight away. It also isn't drying at all, which is a huge bonus in liquid lipsticks! I'll definitely be buying more shades in the future.

The Tattoo Liner was the next out of the set that I tried. I was going out on the night and wanted to look my best, so I decided to give the Tattoo Liner a whirl as I've heard so many good things about it, and it didn't disappoint. This liner seriously glides on the lid, it's so easy to apply. The thin and pointed tip allows different looks whether that be a fine line or super bold wings. It dries pretty much instantly, is boldly black, has a flexible tip which I found made application even easier and lasted all night. I also got a sample with this set with a second mini of this liner, so when they both run out I will definitely be buying the full size version!

And last, but definitely not least, the Studded Kiss lipstick. This was the last product I tried purely for the reason that I wanted to keep it looking untouched for pictures for this post (blogger problems!), but the night after I took the pictures I finally tried it out and fell in love.

So many bloggers rave about the shade Lolita and now I know why. It's the perfect mauve toned nude. It also has a hint of red in it creating a lovely, vampy look. It looks quite similar to double dare on the swatches above, but I think it's darker when actually on the lips. I love how pigmented and creamy it is, and I can see this being a go-to this Autumn!

Overall, in case you couldn't already tell, I've fallen in love with Kat Von D's range so far! I'm so glad I got this set and will definitely be building up my collection in the coming months.

What about you? Have you tried anything from Kat Von D's range yet? And you are as excited that the range is finally available in the UK as I am? Let me know in the comments, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Easy DIY Sugar Lip Scrub

Lip scrubs are one of those products that you didn't know you needed until you get one, and then you get one and you're like... ok, maybe my lips do need a lil' pampering!

Another fab thing about lip scrubs is that instead of going out and splashing the cash on them every now and then, they're actually super easy to make! Today I'm going to tell you how you can make your very own personalised sugar lip scrub in a matter of minutes.

What you will need:

  • 1 cup/small dish
  • 1 teaspoon
  • Sugar
  • Olive oil
  • Flavouring of your choice
  • Food colouring of your choice (optional)
  • 1 small container

How:

1. Pour out the amount of sugar you'd like to use (depending on how much scrub you want) into your cup/dish.

2. Add a dash of olive oil and mix. The oil should help the sugar to stick together, so if it's still a little dry then add another dash.

3. Pour in a few drops of your food flavouring and mix. (I chose peppermint to keep it lovely and fresh!)

4. Pour in a few drops of food colouring and mix. (I opted for pink as it looks super cute)

5. Transfer finished lip scrub to storage container and decorate with ribbon, stickers etc... or just leave pretty and plain!

And here's the finished product!

I decided to keep my sugar scrub in a small jar that I found in my local craft shop for just £1! I had so much fun creating my first DIY post and (if you want to see them) I'll definitely be planning more for the future! I also loved personalising my sugar lip scrub to the flavour and colour I prefer and I'm really pleased with the finished product!

What about you? Will you be making this easy DIY lip scrub? Let me know in the comments, as always I'd love to here from you!

My Autumn '16 Wish List.

1. Camel Topshop Jumper - Now that it's Autumn it's time to stock up my jumper collection as I practically live in baggy jumpers through the Autumn/Winter. I love the colour, high neck and it's at a reasonable price of £34!

2. Classic Short UGGs in Stormy Grey - UGG boots are an absolutely necessity for me in the colder weather, they're so comfy and keep me warm! I love the colour Stormy Grey as they will go with pretty much anything and they're not too light so won't get marked easily. £155.

3. New Look Orange Beanie Hat - I LOVE wearing beanie hats in the Autumn, great to keep you warm and great for bad hair days! I love this rusty orange colour as it just screams Autumn and at just £5.99 it's a steal.

4. Mac Lipstick in D for Danger - This is a shade that I've been wanting for ages after swatching it countless times whenever I visit a Mac store, so I think it's finally time I treat myself as it's a lovely matte berry colour, perfect for this season.

5. Topshop Washed Black Busted Joni Jeans - I pretty much live in black Joni jeans anyway, but I think a washed black pair with ripped knees will be a nice addition to my Autumn wardrobe. £38.

6. Paperchase Mug - While shopping for Uni supplies in Paperchase (prettiest stationary ever!) I came across this lovely white and gold mug which just so happens to match my new Uni stationary, NEED! £8.

7. Boohoo Striped Shirt - I never think to look on Boohoo for tops and I don't know why, they have some gorgeous finds. Just like this striped shirt, I think it will be a staple this Autumn. £18.

8. Missguided Rose Gold Shirt - I don't think I need to explain why this is on my wish list, I mean it's a ROSE. GOLD. SHIRT. and only £22! I think this will be a great smart/casual top.

So those are the things on my wish list this Autumn, what about you? What are you wanting to fill your wardrobe with? Let me know in the comments, I'd love to hear your finds!
