The Ultimate Hot Chocolate Recipe | Blogmas Day 4

4 December 2016

I don't know about you but hot chocolate is one of my favourite treats this time of year, and today I'm going to let you all in on my recipe for the ultimate hot chocolate with a minty twist. Prepare your taste buds for a whole lot of chocolatey goodness.

What you will need:

  • 1 large bar of chocolate
  • 2 cups of milk
  • candy canes
  • whipped cream
  • mini marshmallows
  • 1 latte glass/mug
  • 1 small pan
  • 1 wooden spoon
How:

1. First of all break up around 9 pieces of chocolate and add them into your pan along with 2 cups of milk and set off the hob on a low heat. I used semi-skimmed milk but I think whole milk would taste lovely and extra creamy.

2. Continuously stir the mixture with your wooden spoon, making sure the milk doesn't start to boil, until the chocolate has fully melted and formed your hot chocolate.

3. Grab your glass/mug and pop a candy cane on the side, making sure the end is hanging down into the cup. This is what's going to add a minty kick into your indulgent treat and make it a bit more festive! Carefully pour you hot chocolate from the pan into your chosen cup, as the hot chocolate touches the candy cane it's going to start to melt, dissolving the minty flavour into your drink. (yum!)

4. Add lots of whipped cream and mini marshmallows on top.

And there you have it! A super easy yet amazingly yummy festive treat to satisfy your taste buds this Christmas, the perfect thing to have while you're snuggled up in blankets watching Christmas movies all day. (Psst! If you're stuck for choice on Christmas movies, check out my top 5 here)

I hope you all enjoyed this hot chocolate recipe and try it out for yourselves, trust me it's delicious!
