Kylie Cosmetics Valentine's Mini Mattes

Ok, so I know I'm a bit late on this one! But truth is I took pictures for this post as I was planning to post it last month, but then life got a bit crazy and I completely forgot about them, ooops. However, these products are too good not to share, so I'm finally putting this post up!

After missing out on Kylie's Christmas mini mattes bundle, I was over the moon to have bagged myself the Valentine's version! Featuring some new exclusive shades, some limited edition, and some classic faves, I couldn't wait to get swatching when they arrived.

L-R - Apricot, Maliboo, High Maintenance, Posie K, Head Over Heels, Mary Jo K.

The new shades included Apricot, High Maintenance and Head Over Heels. Apricot has got to be my fave out of the bunch so I'm buzzing Kylie's made it a permanent shade in her collection, and I also love High Maintenance as it's a lovely mauve-y bubblegum colour that's not too 'Barbie' pink.

The other shades were made up of Maliboo, Posie K and Mary Jo K. I already had Mary Jo K so I knew that I liked that, but I'd also been wanting to try Maliboo and Posie K for a while, especially after seeing how amazing Posie K looked on my friend Beth from Polished Couture. Although on Kylie's Instagram pages Maliboo looks like a pale pink nude on others, it's quite brown toned on me. However, I still love it all the same, it's fab for a more grungy look. Posie K is also I lovely pink with purple tones, I think it will be lovely in the Summer.

I'm so glad I got these mini mattes, I think I paid around $35 for them which if you think about it is so worth the money as it's $5 dollars a shade, and not to mention their packaging is absolutely stunning! I also think mini's are a good way of trying out lots of different colours at once if you're not sure which shade you want in full size. Kylie's formula in matte liquid lipsticks is also one of my absolute faves so I knew I was going to love them.

Have you ever tried anything from Kylie Cosmetics?

What I Picked Up from Lush's Easter Range

Easter is just around the corner (anyone else ready for allll the chocolate eggs?!) and this can only mean one thing, Lush's Easter range has arrived!

Out of all the collections Lush release yearly I have to admit, apart from Christmas, I get the most excited for their Easter range. This year there is some returning favourites and some new additions. I decided to pick up a few bits as I'm trying to budget my spending until pay day, so today I'm going to tell you all what I thought of them.

Bunch of Carrots
I remember seeing Zoella talking about these adorable bubble bars in one of her videos a few years ago and I instantly wanted some for myself! This year I managed to grab some for myself and I can't wait to use them, but I also kind of don't want to ruin them. They have a very citrus-y smell as they contain hints of lemon which I love as I find it to be a very uplifting and fresh smell, which is basically what Spring is about! They're priced at £6.50 which is higher than I'd usually pay for a bubble bar but I think you get your money's worth as you technically get 3 in 1.

Which Came First?
I think Lush have had 'Which Came First?' before but this is the first time I've seen it so automatically I was intrigued. I was drawn in by the grapefruit scent as that's one of my favourite scents in a product and I've also heard that there's a surprise inside so the £6.95 price is definitely justified! It's quite a big bath bomb too so I think I'll be breaking this one up to get a few uses out of it.

Golden Egg
I had the Golden Egg last year so I already knew I loved it, I've been waiting for it to return all year. Filled with cocoa butter this glittery bath bomb melt will leave you feeling super moisturised and pampered after your bath while leaving a subtle glow! It smells like toffees so is nice and sweet smelling and even though the glitter can get all over your hands when handling it, it actually doesn't leave much glitter behind on you or stuck on your bath, result! It's also priced at £3.95 which is fab if you're looking for a small pamper treat.

So that's what I've picked up so far from Lush's Easter range but what about you? Is your fave a golden oldie or a new addition?

Horse Shampoo and Conditioner Saved My Hair!

I know what you're all thinking... horse shampoo and conditioner? As in for a horse's mane/tail? Why? But honestly, this stuff has been a saviour for my bleached hair!

I've been getting highlights since around the age of 15, and although I don't get a lot of bleach put in there is still a good portion of my hair that gets bleached and in the past few months I've really started to notice just how bad condition my hair is in.

I've always left my hair quite natural and not used many heat appliances on it. I usually let it air dry unless I don't have time and I only really use heat on it when I'm going out, the rest of the time I only straighten over the top part of my hair and leave the ends naturally wavy. However, in the past few months I started to notice just how bad my hair had gotten, it didn't fall like hair. It was really wirey and barely had any moisture in it at all. It's also gone really thin which I hate as it just seems to be getting thinner and thinner as I'm getting older. I was telling my hairdresser about my problem and she whispered "Horse shampoo!". I thought it seemed strange at first but when you think about it, it really makes sense.

Horses have really thick hair so obviously their hair needs a lot more conditioning to make it manageable, so basically by using it you got a lot more extra conditioning going into your own locks. After a few weeks of using this shampoo and conditioner combo I've really started to see the difference. My hair feels so much softer and doesn't have that 'wirey' texture it did before, it also feels slightly thicker which I'm loving!

For around £10 you can get a reasonably big bottle of the shampoo and conditioner off Amazon, which last for ages and they even have an extra moisturising version! I'm definitely going to continue using this hair combo as I'm hoping to go silver/lilac in the summer so I need all the help my hair can get!

I honestly couldn't recommend these products enough! Have you ever tried a product that's meant for something else but worked for you?

Celebrating St.Patricks Day at Newcastle Races with Ladbrokes

Over my time blogging I've had some amazing opportunities, but I have to say this has got to be up there in my top 3! Ladbrokes very kindly invited me down to Newcastle Racecourse to spend the day there in a premier box with a 3 course meal included, basically the whole shebang!

I decided to go with a nude and rose gold theme with my outfit, I would have loved to have worn a fascinator but I just couldn't find the perfect match in time! However, I still loved my outfit and it felt amazing to get dressed up and go to the box, I felt like a proper VIP!

After meeting up with the lovely Beth from Polished Couture and getting the train there, we were greeted by a glass of Irish bucks fizz, which was gorgeous and tasted a bit like apple! We then sat down and were joined by some fellow bloggers and lovely ladies Audrey and Beth who arranged everything for us. As if we hadn't already been treat enough, Audrey and Beth gave us all a lovely little bracelet for good luck, and it must have brought some good luck as I won 3 bets that day!

Next came the food! Looking at the menu it was quite Irish themed, and I decided to go with salmon for starters, pork, veggies and a Yorkshire pudding for my main, and then a super indulgent white & dark chocolate torte for dessert. The food was amazing and I can say with confidence that I enjoyed every bite!

After food we decided to get a drink and then go out to explore on the grounds near the racecourse and see the horses up close. Although it was quite cold everyone was in high spirits, the men were all dressed up in suits and the girls were in their best dresses, I loved feeling so glam!

The bar, betting stations and toilets were all a short walk away which was handy in heels! They even had betting desks inside and out which I thought was good as you didn't have to be in one place all the time.

The package I was treat to was worth £102 all together and I'd definitely say it's worth the money if you're wanting a glam day out! This was my first time at the races and I can't wait to go back again hopefully in the Summer.

Thank you so much to Ladbrokes for inviting me and to Audrey and Beth for arranging everything, I had such a good time! If you want to check out Ladbrokes and join in on the horse racing yourself then you can follow the link here.

Have you ever been to the races?

Life Updates with Lucy | 1

When I started Just Lucy's Life I wanted it to be a space on the internet that was filled with all the things that I loved which is mostly beauty and general things that I loved and enjoyed doing thrown in there to give you more of an insight into who I am as a person rather than just a beauty blogger, so today I've decided to start a new series on JLL called 'Life Updates with Lucy' where I basically just give you all an update on my life and where I'm at, so go and grab a cuppa and let's have a catch up!

There's been a lot of change in my life so far in 2017, my boyfriend finally came home from his deployment of 4 months in the Falklands, I started my second semester at Uni (and came out of my first semester with two 2:1's and a first, buzzing!), I started a new job at House of Fraser and about a week ago my Dad found out that he's bagged himself a new job too.

I don't know about you, but I don't like change. If too much changes at once I feel so off balance and I suppose that's why I'm so glad I've got this blog because it's such a constant in my life. Between working, going to and from my Mum's, Dad's and boyfriend's house and trying to find a social life and time to blog in between it's fair to say the last couple of months have been pretty hectic, which is why you may of noticed that I didn't post as much as I normally would've last month.

However, I'm starting to find a balance. With change comes new challenges, and it's made me realise that I'm at a very important time in my life. In May I'll be 21 and I feel like I'm at the age where I've got the whole world in front of me. I'm definitely getting into the mindset that if you want something then go and get it, because life's too short for missed opportunities.

In a few weeks my Dad will be packing his bags to head to Switzerland for 2-3 months, and then after that Canada. I'll hold my hands up and admit that I am 100% a daddy's girl, my dad is one of my best friends and we have a great relationship so it's definitely going to be hard not seeing him for that amount of time, but at the same time I'm over the moon that he's got a job that's an amazing opportunity for him, and on the upside it could also be a chance for me to travel more and see more of the world whilst visiting him, which is pretty exciting!

I think it's always best to look for a silver lining in a bad situation and I hope you've enjoyed my first life update post! I'm hoping for this to become a monthly thing so you'll all be able to get to know me a little bit more as a person and it can be almost like a catch up with a friend!

Dr Botanicals | Advanced Purifying Overnight Masque

Did you know that the skin regenerates much faster while we sleep? If you're like me and your skin suffers in the colder months then this post is for you!

A few weeks ago the lovely people over at Dr Botanicals asked me if I'd like to try out their new Advanced Purifying Overnight Masque and of course I jumped at the chance. I had a lot of hope for this product with it being priced at £79 (keeping on reading for my code that lowers the price to just £19.99, you're welcome!) and I was not disappointed.

I find it hard to find a moisturiser that truly moisturises my skin and dry areas and keeps them moisturised. A lot of the time I'll find a moisturiser that I think is working but by the end of the day I'm back to dryness, so when this product kept my skin feeling lovely throughout the whole day I was hugely impressed.

This mask has lots of ingredients in it that are amazing for your skin such as Papaya that's super rich in minerals, sugars and vitamins, Jojoba oil that aims to enhance and rejuvenate the skin and Sweet Almond oil that's known for it's softening and moisturising properties, along with a load more vitamins. So with all that goodness this product was already set up to work wonders on the skin and was guaranteed to take 'beauty sleep' to a whole new level!

The product itself smells fresh and quite fruity and has a super luxurious feel to it. When applied you can feel it almost tightening on your skin like a normal face mask would but on a less intense level, so you know that moisture is getting locked in there! It doesn't feel thick either which I love.

Now for the part that I'm the most excited about, giving you lovely lot the code! Whether you want to try this wonder out for yourself or want to get your mum the perfect gift for Mother's Day then just enter the code 'JUSTLUCYBLOG' at the check out on the Dr Botanicals website here to get this product for just £19.99. Make sure you're quick though as the code is only valid until the end of March, so make sure you don't miss out as I'd recommend this product to anybody!
