Some Recent TK Maxx Beauty Bargains!

TK Maxx is one of those shops that I always like to pop into when I get the chance, and it's either a really successful trip and I come out with lots of bargains or I can't find anything. Recently though I've found some amazing finds in my local TK Maxx and today I'm going to share them with you all!

First of all, would you believe I got all of this for near enough £30! Considering the Cat Eyes palette from Too Faced is worth around that price alone, I don't think I've done too bad. I can't take credit for this find however as it was actually my friend Beth from Polished Couture who actually found it. Beth text me and said she'd found the Cat Eyes palette in TK Maxx for just £12.99 so of course I jumped at the chance and she kindly picked one up for me.

As I love Too Faced eyeshadow palettes already (read previous reviews here and here) I was already expecting good things, and I wasn't disappointed. Carrying 9 gorgeous shades ranging from mattes to shimmers to glitters, this palette is great for easy eye looks or beginners in smokey eyes. There's even a few shades that are specially designed to be used with a wet brush for a more intense look, love it! As with all Too Faced Eyeshadow palettes too there's also a mirror and a little booklet with 3 step by step eye looks to follow using the shades from the palette. I can't wait to start playing around with these shades.

Moving on to the two Illamasqua products I found. Yes, Illamasqua! For those of you who don't know this is a pretty luxury brand with both the lip products I got retailing at around £17/£18 each. However, I got them for the bargain prices of £5.99 for the lipgloss and £6.99 for the lip liner. The lipgloss in shade 'Artifice' is a really pale pink nude. I thought it would be fab for putting over the top of nude lipsticks to add a bit of glam, especially my Kim K.W lippie from Charlotte Tilbury. The lip liner in shade 'Dream' is quite similar to Whirl by Mac so I knew I'd get my use out of it. The formula is really creamy and doesn't budge!

I also always raid the nail varnish rack while I'm in TK Maxx as you can always guarantee there's some Essie gems sat in there, and there was! I picked up this stone grey Essie nail polish in the shade 'Between the Seat' for just £3.99! I love this colour as it's neutral so will go anything and it also has a really pretty lilac hint to it.

Overall it's fair to say I got some bargains in TK Maxx and I'll definitely be making another trip soon.

Have you found any bargains from TK Maxx?

Tanya Burr | Neutral Ambience Collection

I've always loved trying out my favourite youtubers' collections, it's fab when you get to try out something when someone who's personal style you love has created a product, and Tanya's products have been some of my favourites throughout the years.

This month Tanya announced that she was releasing a Neutral Ambience collection to her range. It's one of her smaller ranges with it only containing 2 eyeshadow palettes and 2 lipsticks, but the shades looked stunning and right up my street (not to mention the fab prices!) so I decided to pick up the two eyeshadow quads My Escape and My Paradise and a lipstick in the shade Bear Hug. The other lipstick Sunday Walk was too pink for me.

Starting off with the eyeshadow quads. I'd tried an eyeshadow palette from Tanya's range last year, Enchanted Dream, and I loved it. I used it before a wedding when I didn't have much time to get ready so it was great for a quick eye look that still looked nice. First of all, Tanya's definitely upped her packaging game with these quads as they now open at the bottom of the writing instead of at the side (meaning the eyeshadow names were the wrong way round when opened) and they also feature a new magnetic close which I love. Also on the front there is designs matching the name of each palette, My Escape has palm tree leaves and My Paradise has pineapples. I feel like this really adds to the whole feel of the collection.

With the actual eyeshadows, they have that same creamy texture that all of Tanya's palettes hold which makes them super blendable. There's also a good mix between mattes and shimmers meaning you can create a lot of eye looks with them. My favourite shades out of the My Paradise quad are Tranquility and Miami Sunrise and my favourite shades from the My Escape quad are New Perspective and Wild Jungle. My Paradise is more warm toned and My Escape is more cool toned so there is something for everyone. Each palette features a little heart shaped mirrors too making them perfect for on the go.

Moving on to the Bear Hug lipstick, I'm actually quite disappointed! When I saw Tanya use it in a tutorial I thought it looked gorgeous and quite similar to my all time favourite lipstick Bitch Perfect from Charlotte Tilbury as it's a peach toned nude shade, but on actual application it was patchy and quite drying. I've tried on of Tanya's lipsticks before in Pink Cocoa which also had the same drying feel so maybe the formula just doesn't agree with my lips! I like lipsticks to be rich and creamy so I know I'm getting the pigment and moisture from them, but this just didn't give me that effect.

Overall I do love the collection. The eyeshadow quads are definitely the products I'll be getting my use out of and if you're thinking of trying the lipsticks then go for it! Just because they haven't worked for me it doesn't mean they won't for other people. Also, I love how student friendly the prices are, it was just £6 for one quad!

Have you ever tried anything from Tanya Burr Cosmetics?

The Self Love Tag

Last week I wrote possibly the most personal post that's been on my blog, and I couldn't have had a better response! I was a little nervous to get so personal and share it with the world, but after posting my social media was flooded with amazingly lovely comments which left me sat on my bed with a beaming smile on my face feeling like my heart could burst with happiness! Seeing all those amazing responses made me think to myself that as it made me feel so good, maybe I can spread a bit more positivity around the internet! Which is why I've created this tag, The Self Love Tag.

The Self Love tag is a tag created to bring a bit of happiness and self love to whoever takes it on. A tag full of questions that includes insecurities, guilty pleasures, things that you love in life and things that you love about yourself to make you realise that that's ok, it's what makes you, you!

Rules:
  1. Answer all the questions honestly.
  2. Tag 5 people who you want to bring a bit of happiness to.

Questions:
  1. What is something that is getting you down at the moment? The fact that I'm not currently in a job.
  2. What is something that makes you happy? Spending time with loved ones!
  3. Name 3 guilty pleasures! Cheesy boybands, musical movies and owning too much make up!
  4. What is something about yourself you want to improve on? My fitness.
  5. When was the last time you belly laughed? When my brother thought that sticking some chicken in bread in the microwave would make a toastie.
  6. What is your biggest insecurity/fear? Not being liked.
  7. Name a song that always cheers you up when you're down. 'You Get What You Give' The Glee Cast version.
  8. Name 3 things you like about yourself! My eyes, my sense of humour and my smile.
  9. What is an achievement that has made you proud of yourself this year? Getting mostly 2:1s in my first year at Uni, I even managed to bag myself a 1st!
  10. Tell us your happiest memory. Probably when I was 8 and my Grandad paid for my family to go on holiday in Disney World in Florida. I'd do anything to relive that holiday!

To kick off this tag I'm going to tag 5 lovely blogger gals; Grace, Beth, Caroline, Eleanor and Sally.

I hope this catches on as I can't wait for other bloggers to feel a bit happier within themselves and tell us a bit more about who they are, there's too much negativity in the blogosphere at the moment!

Unapologetically Me

For a while now I've been pondering my brain for a post idea that was meaningful and personal that would also send a good message out to anyone who wishes to read it, and then when I was in the shower, as all good ideas come when you're in the shower, it hit me. Like a little light bulb lit up above my head.

For a good few months now I've been feeling really low about myself, which is not like me. I was such a confident person and was so happy within myself, and I guess as I've grown up and matured a bit more and life has changed so much that I'm having to almost find myself again. When I say feeling down about myself I don't just mean the odd huff here and there because I've put on a bit of weight or I don't like my hair, I've been overthinking things I didn't used to. It all sparked because I gained a few pounds but then it kind of tumble weeded and I started to think about what other people thought of me.

What if people think I'm mean for saying that? What if people think I'm stupid because I've forgotten something? What if they're looking at me thinking 'she's put on weight'? What if they don't like me?

I guess I let one insecurity spark some more, which I shouldn't have done. Something that only my closest friends and boyfriend know is that I suffer with Anxiety. I haven't been properly diagnosed but I know I have it, I've suffered with panic attacks since I was in secondary school and my mind is pretty much always in over drive overthinking the smallest of things. However, I've realised that I just need to get back to my roots. Life got so hectic with work, Uni and family life that I forgot to take time out for me (and my little blog) so I've decided it's time to work on myself. By that I mean get healthier, lose the weight I put on, work on something that I love doing, create things and start to really enjoy life again.

My weight does not define me. I can be forgetful. Sometimes I get annoyed a little too easily. I can let stressful situations get me down. You work to live, you don't live to work. I achieve something every day as my blog views go up. I'm funny. I have amazing people around me. I'm kind. I'd prefer to wear a baggy jumper and joggers over a dress any day. I'm pretty, even without make up. I need to work on my time keeping skills. I got a 1st in a Uni assignment with the rest pretty much all 2:1s, when an A was never in sight at school or college. I'm creative. I'm motivated. I'm talented. I'm me.

These are some of the things that make up who I am, some good, some bad. It's hard to beat insecurities and learn to love yourself but every now and then it's good to sit down and remind yourself that you're actually doing ok.

If you're reading this then I hope you liked it, and I'd love for you to put something that you love about yourself down below in the comments. Let's spread the positivity, especially as it's Mental Health Awareness week!

Too Faced's Natural Love Palette

A few weeks ago I treat myself to the mother of all palettes... the Natural Love palette from Too Faced. This is a new launch from Too Faced and as their Chocolate Bon Bons palette is already my most used and most loved palette, I knew this would be a good investment.

The first thing that drew me in was the gorgeous packaging. With a theme of pretty pink on gold, cute flowers and adorable creatures such as bunnies and birds, the Natural Love palette is definitely now the prettiest palette in my ever growing collection. When I first got it I just kept getting it out the box and staring at it (before I could take swatch snaps), it's just so pretty.

Getting on to pigment, as usual, it blew me away! There are a few shades that are more pigmented than others, but it's nothing that isn't build-able and every colour is stunning as you can see from the swatches below.

My favourite shades are Poodle, Fairy Tale, Cutie Patootie, Push-Up, Bunny Nose, Dear Diary, Tickle Me, Honey Pot, Moonbeam, Coffee Date, Hot & Bothered, Love bug and Spoiled. Some of the shades really surprised me whilst swatching so make sure you have a swatch of this dream if you get the chance!

Although it retails at a high end price of £52, I think it's so worth it. Too Faced eyeshadows are so high in quality and so pigmented that you know you'll get amazing results. The palette also contains 30 gorgeous shades which includes 7 matte, 13 shimmer and 10 sparkle shades so Natural Love really does have it all with a wide range of finishes and colours, meaning you could create endless looks with it! You also get a little booklet with it with suggested eye looks and combinations which is something I love that Too Faced do!

I'm heading to a Blogging event tomorrow and can't wait to create my first look with this palette, although it's going to be very hard to choose which shades to use!

What's your favourite shade from this palette?

Spring Charlotte Tilbury Mini Haul

If you've been reading my blog for a while then you'll know that Charlotte Tilbury is one of my all time favourite brands. I love the whole glam but glowy vibes Charlotte gives with her products and each product is specifically designed to help enhance something. So far my favourite CT product has got to be my Bitch Perfect lipstick (which is almost all gone!), but these new products are definitely coming in close second.

If you're a beauty lover like me, you've more than likely heard of Charlotte Tilbury's Lip Cheat pencil in the shade Pillow talk, it's hugely raved about by beauty bloggers. Well, as the lip liner shade was so popular, Charlotte has brought out a limited edition matte revolution lipstick in the same shade! As soon as I saw this launch I was like TAKE MY MONEY! However, being a student I didn't exactly have the spare money at the time so I've had to wait until now, but let me tell you it was well worth the wait!

Starting with the Lip Cheat pencil in Pillow Talk, I think I've found my new favourite lip liner formula. It's creamy and lasts allll day long. I can see why so many people love it as the formula is amazing and it's a dusky pink/brown colour that will compliment so many shades. When used along with the Pillow Talk lipstick it makes my lips look so much fuller and gives the perfect pout. Speaking of the Pillow Talk lipstick....

If you like a good 'my lips but better and poutier' lipstick then this one is for you. It's a lovely nude with a dusky pink hue and I think I'm definitely going to get my money's worth out of it. I can see it going with so many make up looks, whether it's everyday or going to the club. As usual with Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks this is rich and creamy but not too thick and the colour lasts for hours on end, not to mention the classically beautiful rose gold packaging.

The last thing I picked up was another lip product, but this time a gloss. I've never tried Charlotte Tilbury's lip glosses before but after seeing Hannah Renee's Charlotte Tilbury haul on Youtube I just had to get it. I was stuck between the shades Ibiza Nights and Blondie but seen as I've just booked a trip to Ibiza with my blogger friend Beth from Polished Couture (get ready for Ibiza posts in July!), I thought Ibiza Nights was meant to be. The gloss holds lots of glitter but not in a tacky way, it looks beautiful when on the lips and shines from every angle. I think I'm going to like this as a topper for nude lipsticks when I want something a little more glam.

Overall I think it's fair to say I'm over the moon with my new Charlotte Tilbury additions and I can't wait to start using them more. With my purchase I also managed to pick up two samples so I chose a hot lips sample in the shade Kim K.W and a light wonder foundation sample, and there was a complimentary sample of Charlotte's Scent of a Dream perfume thrown in there. I also decided to pick up a gorgeous gift box for around £3 extra as I thought it'd be fab for pretty storage purposes.

Out of this haul which one would you most like to try? Let me know in the comments!
