Reflecting on the NBA's & Winning Best Beauty Blogger!

21 October 2018

If someone told me when I started this little hobby of mine 4 years ago that one day Just Lucy's Life would become an award winning blog, I honestly wouldn't have believed them.

On Saturday 29th September I made my way, in a super glittery and glam ensemble, to the Midland Hotel to attend the Northern Blog Awards. Being shortlisted was amazing enough to me, and as I walked up to the hotel and was greeted by a glass of bubbly, it really set in that this was a really big deal.

Once I'd taken in the surroundings of so many Northern Bloggers coming together all in one place and I had the chance to have a picture taken in front of Skinbase's simply stunning flower wall and got my very own selfie ring light (obsessed!), my Dad and I took our seats ready for the awards to begin.

My category, Best Beauty Blogger, was the first to be announced. As my name and pictures came up on the screen all I could think was 'This is so cool!'. It's going to sound so cliche but honestly I was not expecting to win, like at all! I was expecting to be staying in my seat clapping for the winner, but then the plot twist came that it was actually me who was the winner! I looked at my Dad with a half shocked half amazed expression as he cheered me on to the stage where I did an actual (sort of rambly) winner's speech and accepted my trophy.

And the truth is, I still can't believe I get to say I'm an award winning blogger now. Throughout these 4 years I haven't posted every single week on the same designated day, I haven't constantly checked stats and numbers and I haven't always known the direction I wanted to take my blog in. All I know is that I love blogging and I think that's why it's worked for me. Blogging has always been my happy place and I always think the second it becomes stressful is the second I start losing my passion and motivation for it, so if you're a blogger or an influencer and you beat yourself up for not posting as much as you should then please know that it can work both ways, and that sometimes quality is better than quantity.

The whole night was definitely one to remember, and if you're a northern blogger or you just want to meet some of the amazing and talented blogger's the north has to offer, I'd definitely recommend buying a ticket for the Northern Blog Awards next year. I'm so glad the North now has something to celebrate the blogger's up here instead of just being down London. Also, as if the award wasn't enough, I also went home with a winner's goodie bag which included a bottle of gin, a personalised bath robe with my initials on, some treats from Kiehl's and so much more. I felt like Cinderella getting her Fairy Godmother experience, it was a total dream come true!

I just want to say thank you to everyone who reads my posts, likes my content, likes my blog and has just supported me in any way over the last 4 years. It really has been such a journey and I'm so proud of how far my little part of the internet has come. I also want to thank anyone who voted for me and especially my Dad for being my biggest support and accompanying me on the night, if this night has taught me anything it's that I need to stop doubting myself.

I hope you enjoyed this little catch up post and make sure you're following my blog and all social media linked below, if you know me you'll know that Autumn is my FAVE season so there will be lots of Autumn themed content coming your way in the coming weeks!
