My Thoughts On The Biggest Beauty Launch Of 2019 | Shane Dawson X Jeffree Star

7 November 2019

Well, we've now found out what happens when two of the biggest youtuber's release a collection together - a true internet explosion! There was no doubt that the collaboration between Shane Dawson and Jeffree Star was going to be highly anticipated, but I don't think anybody could of expected the absolute chaos that the internet saw on release day! However, after a long 3 hours, I managed to get my hands on the 3 products I was desperate for from this collab.

First of all, Shane and Jeffree are two of my favourite youtuber's. I love how much Jeffree breaks the boundaries of make up and he was the inspiration for me to start using colourful eyeshadows, and Shane totally changed the youtube game with his latest few series, so for me I knew this was something I wanted in my collection not only for the amazing shades but also as a collectors item.

I've loved watching the process in Shane's docu-series of the making of this collection; from choosing the shades to the designs of the packaging, we've seen it all as the viewers! I think that's why this collection in particular has been so special because it's so personal and we've seen the blood, sweat and tears that have gone into making it. So, let's get into my thoughts...

I'll start off with the product that I know everyone wants to hear about, the Conspiracy palette! First of all, I was pleased to see that the packaging is similar to the Blood Sugar palette. Ever since I bought Blood Sugar it still feels like such a luxury product to use and it's great for travel as it's so bulky so there's no fear that the shades will crack and it has a great sized mirror, so hopefully this palette will be just as good in that sense! I also love how they have so clearly incorporated both Shane and Jeffree's style with the design being quite out there but still looks really cool and nothing like ever before.

I'm also a really big fan of the colour story. As Jeffree explained in one of the episode, there really is something for everyone in here. The top row has got some amazing neutrals and transition shades that I know I'll be dipping into a lot, along with some pretty shimmers for a golden smokey look and 'Ranch' is a stunning inner corner/brow bone shade.

The middle row offers more experimental colours while still having some safe shades such as 'Pig-ment' and 'Conspiracy'. Personally I was so happy to see the bright orange 'Cheese Dust' and red 'Flaming Hot' as Blood Sugar got me into using bright warm shades, and I'm not normally a barbie shade of pink person but I can't wait to see how the shade 'Trisha' pops on the eyes as it's super shimmery.

The bottom row offers some more super pretty shimmers along with a gorgeous deep purple that's perfect for autumn/winter and a staple black shade. I also love the sage green shade named 'What's The Tea?' with the little teacup stamped in, although I might not use that shade too much. However, in the eye look below, I used 'Sleep Paralysis' with 'Diet Cola' in the very centre of my lid and I loved the way it created a space grey kind of look! I can tell you that although some of the shades do have a little fall out, most of them do resemble Jeffree's classic eyeshadow formula that you really can't fault.

Overall I think the Conspiracy palette deserves all of the hype it received as it really is such a unique product that offers so many kind of looks and I can't wait to create different looks with it from soft glam to bright and out there. Moving on to the Mini Controversy...

This was the first time I've purchased one of Jeffree's mini palette's and I wasn't disappointed. It still has a luxury feel to the packaging and I just love love love the static vibe they've gone for on the box packaging and then the holographic lines on the actual palette.

Again the shades in this palette offer more wearable shades and colourful shades. In Shane's docu-series Jeffree explained that he wants the shades in his palettes to be wearable staples but also encourage people to dip into colour, and I think that's exactly what these two palettes show. Mini Controversy has the 'Diet Root Beer' mocha brown shade that is also in the Conspiracy palette along with a light golden shade, some pastels, some bright blue's and purple and an absolutely stunning shimmer in 'My Apology' that I found was a really unique brown shade with a hint of purple in it when swatched. I love palettes like this for if you're travelling and don't have too much room but still want to take a palette with options, and it's also great for fans who want to experience the collection but more budget-friendly. This palette also has a mirror in as well, so again would be great to pop in your bag.

Moving on to the final item I got from this collection - the 'Are You Filming?' This shade was named in honour of Andrew, Shane's camera man. This shade is a gorgeous warm red that I think would look great on everyone.

Jeffree's liquid lip formula is unbeatable in my opinion and it is now the only matte liquid lip I will wear as it doesn't budge but also feels like you're not wearing anything on the lips. I love the dark grey chrome they've gone for on the lid with Shane's name printed around the border, I can't wait to use this red during party season!

I'm so pleased I managed to get my hands on these 3 products from the Shane Dawson X Jeffree Star collection! It was definitely money well spent and I can't wait to experiment more with all of the different shades.

What do you think? Have you got anything from the Shane X Jeffree collab, or are you waiting to get your hands on anything in the restock? Let me know in the comments!
