10 Things Lockdown Has Taught Me

23 May 2020

You could definitely say that lockdown has had it's ups and downs, but one of the huge up's is that it's been a big eye opener, and has made me sit down and think about what is really important to me. If anything, I feel like I'll be coming out of this in a more positive mind state and grateful for the smaller things - that is the silver lining in all of this chaos. So, here's 10 things that lockdown has made me realise...

1. Family and friends really are the most important thing.

2. Although I have a love/hate relationship with it, technology is one of the best things to ever happen to us. I feel so lucky that I can video chat my family and friends at the tap of a button, even if I can't see them in person.

3. I need to stop wasting my money on unnecessary things, I've barely spent a penny during lockdown apart from my usual bills.

4. I'm so grateful to have the amazing friends that I do. It's nice to know you have someone to lean on when times are tough.

5. Sometimes it's ok to do nothing. You don't always have to be productive if it doesn't improve how you feel. Take some time out to focus on yourself. Be kind to yourself.

6. I don't need to take amazing pictures in big cities or spend loads of money to make my Instagram look good, I have all I need for great content lying in my house.

7. Small things/achievements can make you just as happy as the big ones. It's important to celebrate the small wins and appreciate the little things.

8. The pressure I put myself under is completely unnecessary. I'm actually far more creative and productive when I'm not stressing about it, sometimes I need to take a step back and remember everyone is on a different path, and if you preserver then hard work will eventually pay off.

9. Exercise has a huge impact on my mental health. Even if I just get myself out for a walk I'll always feel better for it, so I need to keep in the routine of doing some form of weekly exercise.

10. If you're struggling with your mental health, TALK TO SOMEONE. Bottling it up is the worst thing you could do, and you'll feel like a huge weight has been lifted off your shoulders.

I hope you enjoyed this post and that you maybe related to some of the points. I also hope you're all safe and well during these difficult times. We'll get through this!

  3. The thought of being in isolation for an indeterminate period of time, Covid-19 not knowing how long it will last is a daunting prospect, especially when we're spending lockdown with someone we want to divorce!
